HOW DOES SKINPEN WORK?
SkinPen uses ultra-fine, sterile needles to create thousands of controlled microchannels in the skin. These micro-injuries activate the body’s natural wound-healing process, encouraging collagen and elastin remodeling without removing or significantly damaging the surface of the skin. As new collagen develops, the skin can gradually appear smoother, firmer, and more even in texture.
Mirconeedling Before & After Care
Microneedling ranges in time depending on the area of treatment. The face and neck are commonly treated areas and treatments can range between 30-60 minutes. Some patients notice improvements within the first 2 weeks, however optimal results can take 4-6 weeks to notice. We recommend 3 treatment sessions to encourage maximum collagen induction. For those with deeper pockets or scarring 4-6 treatments are recommended. Treatments are spaced 4-6 weeks apart. Microneedling procedures can cause mild discomfort and a topical anesthetic is used to minimize this discomfort. After you have microneedling some side effects are expected. Your skin will appear red or flushed and these symptoms will most likely fade within 48 hours. Mild flaking of the skin and breakouts may also occur within the first week. It is best to refrain from the use of skincare products containing retinoids, benzoyl peroxide, AHA, and BHAs for a week prior to treatment.
WHAT TO EXPECT
A topical numbing cream may be applied before treatment for comfort. Your provider then gently passes the SkinPen device across the treatment area while the tiny needles create precise microchannels. After treatment, the skin may appear red or flushed and feel warm, tight, or sensitive, similar to a mild sunburn. These effects generally improve as the skin begins to recover.
PRP - Before & After Care
WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?
If you are receiving a PRP treatment with your microneedling it is best to refrain from the use of Nsaids as these medications can decrease the effectiveness of the PRP treatment. After treatment we encourage you to wait at least 6 hours prior to washing your face to allow time for the micro-injuries to close. Use a mild facial cleanser. You may apply a calming moisturizer with SPF as needed. Avoid wearing make for 48-72 hours following the treatment. Refrain from strenuous activity for 72 hours following the treatment. Avoid direct sun exposure for 1 week. Avoid chemical peels and any abrasive procedures/treatments for 2 weeks following the treatment.
Skin rejuvenation happens gradually. As the natural healing and collagen-remodeling process continues, improvements in the skin’s texture and overall appearance may develop over the following weeks and months. A series of treatments may be recommended depending on your individual skin concerns and goals.
PRP — PLATELET-RICH PLASMA
PRP stands for platelet-rich-plasma therapy which is used for regenerative purposes. Platelets contain many growth factors and proteins and play an essential role in healing. The addition of PRP makes microneedling more effective and encourages cell proliferation. This leads to an increase in elastin and collagen production. When microneedling is combined with PRP), the results can be even more impressive. This procedure amplifies collagen production which improves and refines skin texture, resulting in a more regenerated and radiant complexion.
